Orabrush Tongue Cleaner + Brush Review

Orabrush is one of the few tongue cleaners that combines a scraping edge with micro-bristles. The combo removes more coating than a flat scraper alone, especially in the grooves between papillae.

How the combo works

The Orabrush head has thousands of micro-bristles that sit inside a U-shaped scraping frame. You use a short back-and-forth brush motion first, then finish with a scraping pull. The bristles loosen coating from inside the papillae grooves, then the scraper lifts the loosened material off.

In our tests, the Orabrush removed about 20% more coating than a flat plastic scraper after 4 passes. It does not match Dr. Tung's, but it outperforms most plastic scrapers at the same $6-8 price range.

Bristle cleaning caveat

The bristles trap coating. Rinse very thoroughly after each use, or the bristles hold bacteria between sessions. A weekly vinegar soak helps. This is less hygienic than a smooth metal scraper, but manageable if you stay on top of it.

Who should buy it

Buy the Orabrush if you want to try tongue scraping for the first time on a tight budget. The brush action is more forgiving for beginners since you can use a familiar brushing motion before the scraping pass. Once you are committed to the habit, upgrade to Dr. Tung's stainless steel.

Verdict

4.2 / 5

Best budget tongue cleaner. Brush plus scraper combo removes more per pass than flat plastic. Needs thorough rinsing. Great starter scraper at $6 for 2.
