Rigid vs flexible: who wins
The Mastermedi is a flat U-bar with no spring action. It does not flex at all. On users with a mild or no gag reflex, this is a non-issue. The flat edge makes firm contact across a wide surface on each pass. We cleared most coating in 3 passes.
For users with a sensitive gag reflex, the rigid bar can feel harsh when placed at the tongue's back. The Dr. Tung's flex design is more forgiving in those cases. If gag reflex is not your issue, the Mastermedi matches Dr. Tung's in per-pass removal.
Build quality
The steel is heavy enough to feel premium. No sharp points or edges. The surface is mirror-polished, which makes it easy to rinse clean. We ran it through the dishwasher 20 times and saw no corrosion or warping.
Who should buy it
Buy Mastermedi if you want a dishwasher-safe stainless scraper at a fair price. The 2-pack at $9 gives you one for home and one for travel. Skip it if you have a sensitive gag reflex and opt for Dr. Tung's flex design instead.
Verdict
4.4 / 5
Best rigid stainless scraper. Dishwasher safe, 2-pack, $9. Strong per-pass removal. The no-flex design is a minus for gag-reflex-sensitive users only.
